Product Overview

VIVOTEK FE8171V is the first fisheye fixed dome network camera from VIVOTEK, featuring detailed 3.1MP-resolution sensor with superb image quality. Equipped with a fisheye lens for 180 panoramic view (wall mount) or 360 surround view (ceiling/floor/table mount) without blind spots, this camera is able to provide an 8X wider field of view than a standard VGA camera, significantly reducing the need for multiple camera installations. It is extremely suitable for monitoring open areas such as airports, shopping malls, parking lots, retail stores, offices, and much more.

The FE8171V offers various display layouts, including original surround view, panoramic views, and regional views for various mounting applications. With the latest cutting-edge image processing, hemispherical images captured from the fisheye camera can be converted into conventional rectilinear projection for viewing and analysis. In addition, in the panoramic and regional viewing modes, users can utilize the ultra-smooth ePTZ function to easily zoom in and focus on a region of interest (ROI).

As with all VIVOTEK true day/night cameras, the FE8171V features a removable IR-cut filter, maintaining clear images 24 hours a day. Its IP66-rated housing is designed to help the camera body withstand rain and dust and ensures operation under a multitude of harsh weather conditions. Additionally, the vandal-proof IK10-rated housing effectively provides robust protection from vandalism. Together with 802.3af compliant PoE, microSD/SDHC/SDXC card slot for on-board storage, EN50155 mobile surveillance, and iPad applications, the FE8171V is indisputably the top choice for constructing a robust surveillance system with the greatest coverage possible.

Local storage using optional SD-Cards allows you to record on the unit itself instead of having to have a recording device elsewhere. This is ideal for ensuring continued recording in the event of network problems, or in mobile installations where there is no permanent LAN. A 32GB SD card can store up to two days worth of continuous video even at the very highest quality and resolution (and much longer periods at lower settings). You can retrieve the recorded video on the SD card by FTP across the network (or Internet) or transfer the SD card into a reader on your PC.

What is Auto Electronic Shutter?

AES - (Automatic Electronic Shutter) allows the shutter speed to change with response to the amount of perceived light to keep the signal output at the best possible level. AES allows an iris to adapt automatically to different lighting conditions. When the shutter speed increases, the light passing through the lens is decreased and the cameras sensitivity is reduced. When the shutter speed is decreased, a larger amount of light enters the iris. For fast moving objects the shutter speed can also be increased to provide a freeze effect in order to provide higher resolution images.

What is Auto Tracking White Balance? 

White Balance allows the camera to adjust the tone according to the color temperature of the light source illuminating the subject. It allows the operator to see objects as they appear during daylight. Simply put, AWB is another image amplification feature designed to bring out the best qualities of the images provided by your camera.

What is Automatic Gain Control?
 

In low-light conditions, some security cameras use Automatic Gain Control (AGC) to artificially improve their dynamic range and produce usable images. AGC is basically a form of amplification where the camera will automatically boost the image received so that objects can be seen more clearly. In normal light conditions the camera will display a normal picture. However, when the light quality drops below a certain level the camera will begin to boost the signal to compensate for the lack of light.The advantage of this technique is that your camera will produce images in much lower light conditions than standard.
