The VIVOTEK IP8133 is an easy-to-use network camera specifically designed for home security applications with a compact, stylish exterior. Equipped with a 1MP sensor enabling viewing resolution of 1280x800 at 30 fps, users need look no further for an all-in-one camera capable of capturing high quality, high resolution video.

Embedded with the VATICS "Mozart" SoC, the camera supports the industry-standard H.264 compression technology, drastically reducing file sizes and conserving valuable network bandwidth. With MPEG-4 and MJPEG compatibility also included, video streams can also be transmitted in any of these formats for versatile applications. The streams can also be individually configured to meet different constraints, thereby further reducing bandwidth and storage requirements. Users can thus receive multiple streams simultaneously in different resolutions, frame rates, and image qualities for viewing on different platforms.

What is a Megapixel,

and Why is it Important?

A megapixel equates to 1 million pixels! With that said, this incredible camera brings you over a million pixels - all working together to bring you the larger, clearer, and crisper image you want for your surveillance needs!

Below is an image comparing the quality produced with a megapixel camera versus the smaller poorer quality corner image of a basic analog camera. As you can see, the resolution of some lesser cameras leave much to be desired, while the quality image this model is capable of conveying is excellent.

What is Auto Electronic Shutter?

AES - (Automatic Electronic Shutter) allows the shutter speed to change with response to the amount of perceived light to keep the signal output at the best possible level. AES allows an iris to adapt automatically to different lighting conditions. When the shutter speed increases, the light passing through the lens is decreased and the cameras sensitivity is reduced. When the shutter speed is decreased, a larger amount of light enters the iris. For fast moving objects the shutter speed can also be increased to provide a freeze effect in order to provide higher resolution images.

What is Automatic Gain Control?

In low-light conditions, some security cameras use Automatic Gain Control (AGC) to artificially improve their “dynamic range” and produce usable images. AGC is basically a form of amplification where the camera will automatically boost the image received so that objects can be seen more clearly. In normal light conditions the camera will display a normal picture. However, when the light quality drops below a certain level the camera will begin to boost the signal to compensate for the lack of light.The advantage of this technique is that your camera will produce images in much lower light conditions than standard.

What is Auto Tracking White Balance?

White Balance allows the camera to adjust the tone according to the color temperature of the light source illuminating the subject. It allows the operator to see objects as they appear during daylight. Simply put, AWB is another image amplification feature designed to bring out the best qualities of the images provided by your camera.

What is Auto Backlight Compensation?

Generally speaking, with BLC the camera can sense the whole area of the frame and measure the average light level. The working point will be based on general testing of the whole environment. If there is a very bright background with a very dim front image, back light compensation is activated so that the camera can apply light to the dark zone. With this feature a normally dark and unspecific image can be easily transformed into a clear and easily interpreted one.

Why is H.264 Important?

H.264 is an ITU standard for compressing video based on MPEG-4 that is popular, especially for high-definition video such as Blu-ray. Taking advantage of today's high-speed chips, H.264 delivers MPEG-4 quality with a frame size up to four times greater! It can also provide MPEG-2 quality at a reduced data rate, requiring as little as one third the original bandwidth.

PIR Sensor

A Passive Infrared sensor (PIR sensor), a type of motion detection sensor, is an electronic device built into this model that measures infrared (IR) light radiating from objects in its field of view. Apparent motion is detected when an infrared source with one temperature, such as a human, passes in front of an infrared source with another temperature, such as a wall. Simply put, this camera uses heat-sensitivity to detect human activity in its range!

What is PoE?

PoE, or Power-over-ethernet, is a cabling system that combines power and video into one convenient source. Instead of requiring an additional power cord, as well as requiring proximity to a power outlet, this camera receives all it needs from one cable connection!
