The Brickcom Fixed Box Camera offers a reliable and excellent solution for 24-hour video surveillance. This model offers highly efficient H.264 video compression, which reduces bandwidth and storage requirements without compromising image quality. M-JPEG and MPEG-4 are also supported for flexibility.

With the megapixel progressive sensor and removable IR-cut Filter, this camera delivers extremely clear and detailed images that CCTV cameras cannot offer. The internal SD/SDHC memory card slot allows for local storage, which prevents data loss if the data connection is lost, and 2-way audio can be applied to a number of creative security approaches. Users can view live feed anywhere through an internet browser or 3G mobile phone. Also, this camera can transmit video to portable devices through other technology, such as WiMax, NAS, Digital Frame and power line.

This model receives power through the same cable as for data transmission. This power over ethernet (PoE) connection makes installation easy because there is no external power supply needed. This model is also designed with a BNC connector as the video output interface. During installation, installers can access the video feed on-site through a small monitor and fine-tune the focus, Iris, and zoom to get the best image quality. From installation, the camera will be ready for use and the user will not have to spend additional time remotely configuring the camera.

For easy setup, this camera offers a step-by-step installation package. “Easy Config” makes the configuration simple even for users without an IT background. What is a Megapixel, and Why is it Important?

A megapixel equates to 1 million pixels! With that said, this incredible camera brings you over a million pixels - all working together to bring you the larger, clearer, and crisper image you want for your surveillance needs!

Below is an image comparing the quality produced with a megapixel camera versus the smaller poorer quality corner image of a basic analog camera. As you can see, the resolution of some lesser cameras leave much to be desired, while the quality image this model is capable of conveying is excellent.

Why is H.264 Important?

H.264 is an ITU standard for compressing video based on MPEG-4 that is popular, especially for high-definition video such as Blu-ray. Taking advantage of today's high-speed chips, H.264 delivers MPEG-4 quality with a frame size up to four times greater! It can also provide MPEG-2 quality at a reduced data rate, requiring as little as one third the original bandwidth.

Built-in SD-Card Storage

Local storage using optional SD-Cards allows you to record on the unit itself instead of having to have a recording device elsewhere. This is ideal for ensuring continued recording in the event of network problems, or in mobile installations where there is no permanent LAN. Recording to the SD card can be continuous or movement, PIR (heat sensitive), or sound triggered (see above). A 32GB SD card can store up to two days worth of continuous video even at the very highest quality and resolution (and much longer periods at lower settings). You can retrieve the recorded video on the SD card by FTP across the network (or Internet) or transfer the SD card into a reader on your PC. A cover is provided to cover the card slot when not in use.

Remote Access from Smart Phones

All Brickcom cameras can provide live streaming to smartphones or other Internet connected mobile devices over 3G networks. This is compatible with leading phones including Apple iPhones™ and iPads™, Symbian™ based devices (e.g. Nokia) and Android™ based phones. No special software needs to be installed on the viewing device. Viewing is also possible on these devices using local WiFi. In conjunction with email alerts and motion detection, this enables you to provide rapid response to view live video after you have been alerted.

What is Auto Tracking White Balance?

White Balance allows the camera to adjust the tone according to the color temperature of the light source illuminating the subject. It allows the operator to see objects as they appear during daylight. Simply put, AWB is another image amplification feature designed to bring out the best qualities of the images provided by your camera.

What is Automatic Gain Control?

In low-light conditions, some security cameras use Automatic Gain Control (AGC) to artificially improve their “dynamic range” and produce usable images. AGC is basically a form of amplification where the camera will automatically boost the image received so that objects can be seen more clearly. In normal light conditions the camera will display a normal picture. However, when the light quality drops below a certain level the camera will begin to boost the signal to compensate for the lack of light.The advantage of this technique is that your camera will produce images in much lower light conditions than standard.
